Operation Overwhelmed

This morning I woke up and decided to be motivated with a capital M! I got my big butt outta bed, got my hubby off to work and went outside to ride my bike. Uh oh! It's drizzling...and my bike tires are flat and dry rotted....and no one would know if I just went back to bed....and and and....

Well I didn't just go back to bed. I improvised and instead of riding my bike two miles like I intended, I decided to run. As you all know I don't run. But after today I feel I could run. I want to run. I want to conquer a 5k. I want my legs to not hurt and itch and burn. I want a sexy donkey booty! So I decided to just do it. So I did!

I walked outta my house, hit the driveway with Toulouse on her pretty pink leash and we were off. Down Keene Street, I jogged one and a half blocks, then walked to the next stop sign, ran to the next, etc. You get my drift. One long block, I even ran in the middle of it because I knew it was much further to the stop sign and I could. So I did. And guess what....my fearless, happy dog was running right beside me. When I began I was worried about both of us making it. She's a dauchund you see. Her legs are only about 3 inches long so running/walking one mile seems a very daunting task. But she did it! And I did it! I started laughing about half way around watching the joy she had running and I thought "holy hell, we just might be able to do this!" There have been a lot of moments in the last year of having my little Wooty dog that I felt God had sent her here just for me and today was another one of those moments.

We're home now. We both had breakfast. She had dog food with a little chicken breast cut up in it. I had two eggs and a fried green tomato fresh from the garden with a little tomatillo sauce. Now before you fuss, the tomatos were basically sauteed in pam and a little seasoning but in the south any cooked green mater, better be a fried one! So for literary purposes, fried we are calling it. Consider it writers license!

So now on to the rest of the day. I am going to get my house clean, finish laundry and get organized to paint my sons new room. I will I will I will! Do my legs hurt...not yet. Actually they are numb so better get cracking while I can. and Wooty? She is passed out on the couch. She deserves it. If a little dog can inspire so much in me, what might I be able to inspire in the world. See you later alligator!
